#2 Health Care

Having discussed various aspects of perspective, comment on how you see the current health plan being considered in congress. Be sure you know at least a little of what the bill proposes. Decide how you (not parents or friends) feel about it and why. Next year you will be a part of the real world so it will have an affect on you and possibly your pay check. (Be sure to check your spelling, punctuation, and capitalization---you are a senior and or don't want to come across as anything less.)

  1. I feel though as if the bill proposes something very bad. Obama states that he is having a doctor follow him every single minutes. He also thinks that everyone deserves good health care which is something we all dont have right now. I think that everyone deserves a Health Care Plan because everyone doesn't have money they can get right away. Health Care is a right that everyone in the U.S deserves as of today.

  2. Good start, Tiffany! However, I am a bit confused. You feel everyone has a right to health care but you said the proposed bill is "bad"? Who shall pay for the insurance? What do others of you think?

  3. MY PERSPECTIVE ON THE HEALTH PLAN BEING CONSIDERED IN CONGRESS IS A GOOD IDEA. I ALSO FEEL AS THOUGH THE US SHOULD HAVE FREE HEALTH CARE BECAUSE IT IS NOT CHEAP NOR SOMETIMES AFFORDABLE,BUT YET EVERYONE NEEDS HELP.I BELIEVE THAT WE SHOULD RAISE TAXES AND HAVE ILLEGAL IMMAGRANTS PAY AND IT WOULD HELP ALOT.

I also suggest that it becomes free also because it is a very serious matter that everyone gets the help they need. For examople one of my friends mom was very ill and did not have enough insurance to cover that medicine and two weeks later she died. Things like this can be taken care of if we as American Citizens fight for our rights.

  5. I feel as though the Health Care plan is bad because what he says and what has been written contradicts each other. For example, President Obama states that the tax payers will not have to pay for the plan but he also stated that the working middle class and business owners will have to end up paying a fee to help cover his plan.

  6. I think that having the health plan is a good idea, and can be beneficial to most people. The health care plan will provide insurance to those who don't have, and it also will lower the cost of health care for everyone. I think this is a great idea because, most people is in need for a health care plan, in need to get surgery or even just get check-ups, and they are unable to do so because of the money and/or they have no insurance.

  7. I Dont even know really about this. But every body in america should get free health care. Because other countries get free health care. Also some people get it free so why not every body.

  8. Health is important to everyone, and I think that Obama is doing the best for his country. I feel that the health care plan is a great idea, because all Americans rich and poor deserve some health insurance. This health care plan gives everyone a chance, and I am a young adult who is beginning to step out into the real world and the health care plan is a blessing as much as it is a opportunity willing to be taken

  9. A health care plan is an number one priority . I think it is very beneficial to us ,especially ones who don't have the money needed for it . Sooner or later we would be all needing it's help . I think that a lot of effort should be put on this since it is concerning our welfare .

  11. Okay guys, here's a few little notes you need to consider. You need to saymore than "yes,it's a good idea." Nothing in life is free! Do a little work and actually learn something aboutthe plan. How is it being paid for? What about companies who furnish insurance? Are they going to drop their coverage since you can get some kind free? What type of coverage is it(how extensive; who is elegible?) THINK!!

  13. My outlook on health care in congress seems to be a good idea. I also believe that nobody should pay for health care because i think that it is wrong that you have to pay to get help whether it is going to the doctor because of the flu or anything as serious as cancer. Health care is not cheap and some people just can't afford to pay for it because of the economy now these days.I believe that higher class people should pay more tax to help lower class people be able to afford to pay health care.

  14. I am against the health care bill. If health care was left to the free market, competition would lower prices to where more people could afford it. Not everybody would be able to afford health care still, but, if I recall correctly, Congressman Ron Paul, who is also a physician, said that before there was any government intervention in health care, doctors felt they had a moral obligation to treat the poor.

Health care is not a right, and it should not be free, and cannot be free. If health care was free, nobody would go to medical school because without a paying job, they would be in debt for the rest of their lives. If health care appeared free, but was not free, the money would probably be coming from the federal reserve creating money out of nothing. When the federal reserve creates money, it decreases the purchasing power of our money through the hidden tax of inflation which is the most unfair tax of all because it punishes people trying to save money which are probably the people that need cheap health care in the first place.

  15. I like that the president is reforming the health care plan it gives u more confidence of not being droped if u become ill or other various reasons plus u don't have to drop your old plan if you already had one.

  16. Well, I think everyone should be insured for health care. I don't think the amount or cost of it is affordable for everyone. The money the government is using to pay off the guards at our boarders, should be going to our health care. America wasted a lot of money on unnecessary things. We the people shouldn't have to pay for our government careless mistakes.

  17. Well, I agree with Gerri.S on the fact that health care is expensive. But I also believe that it should not be free, becasue if it was free to the public then the people that do pay for it would get mad because the hospitals would become so packed and congested. Obamas health plan does need a little revising, if you ask me.So i am for the Health Care plan.

  18. I believe that the new health care plan is just another way for government to control everything and turn it into a socialist society. The government is already in control of the banks, lending institutions, car dealers and insurance companies. Also, with fewer people going into the medical field, there will be fewer doctors, fewer people getting the care they need, longer waiting lists, and the quality of the health care will decline. I also don't want to pay taxes on health care for illegal aliens when they shouldn't even be in our country to begin with. Why should we pay taxes on their health care when we probably can't even afford our own?

  19. I am neutral when it comes to the health care plan.I agree with it when it comes to seniiors or those in need because this well provide everyone with some type of medical help.On the other hand, some people might take it to far because they will kno heatlh care is free.for example, hospitals will be PACKED because people may feel like they can go for any & every reason. So i agree & disagree..

  20. Health is a good idea for the people of America. It is going to help people to pay for there surgeries if needed. Health embraces all the goods and services offered by the medical, dental, complementary and alternative medicine. It also helps people to find jobs and to keep them healthy.

  21. I consider the health plan being offered to the public is going to cost the nation to much in the long run. The plan proposed by Obama is going to cost 10 billion dollars, each year over the next 5 years.Where is the money going to come from? IT is going to come from are own pockets, the Tax payers. In my opinion if I'm going to already going to pay for my health care through taxes in the new health plan, why not have a better policy through me just paying for it. I don't see me helping others who don't pay taxes by giving them free health care.

  22. I'm not sure if I believe the bill should be passed. We have lived so long without everyone having healthcare, why start now? Americans are having to find more and more ways of getting their needs, why should we take more money out of our pockets? The hospital by law has to see you even if you don't have healthcare. It just adds to their dept. I believe that yes everyone would have healthcare but they wouldn't have the money to afford everything else like food and housing. I belive the only people it would be helping is the government pay off peoples dept.

  23. I agree with the health plan that's being considered,it will be something like a relief to those people that cannot afford a health insurance. The bill includes numerous new consumer protections, including a ban on companies denying insurance on the basis of pre-existing conditions. At the same time it provides government subsidies to help lower-income Americans afford insurance that is currently beyond their means. It also includes steps that supporters say will begin to slow the rate of growth in health care costs nationwide.

  24. I agree with the health care reform President Obama is pushing for in congress. A specific outline in his plan includes that illegal aliens are NOT covered, and I as an american agree with his stance. The US does not have a universal health care plan like our neighbors in Canada, where everyone recieves free health care. It is instilled in us as Americans to work hard for anything we want, and since millions of americans go to work everyday striving to make ends meet for thier families it is only fair that the citizens who have a right to be here be covered. In addition, have health care that is affordable.

  25. I feel that a universal health care plan would be very beneficial for our society. though this new plan will seemingly yield negative results (such as a $100 billion cost for the first five years) its an effective way to deal with our nations health care issue. Though there are many people on the fence with this issue, i feel that this is a good change our president speaks of, and in the long run can potentially change our nation for the better.

  26. No, the healthcare is not a good thing. For one you already have free health care. If you go to a hospital they cannot deny you treatment. Also, it will cost way too much; all you will do is end up paying for somone else's healthcare who is too lazy to go out into the workforce and earn it himself.

  27. I agree with Brad that we do not need free health care. Number one, most americans are satisfied with the health care we have now. Number two, if we did have this health care we would probably be paying for it with either taxes or in an increase of most products we regularly buy. Number three, this will take away many jobs taking away from our economy; which everyone agrees isn't the best. Finally, hospitals would be packed with people who are barely sick and just using the doctor just because it's free.

  28. I don't think that it should be free. If they made health care free, it would put many people in the health care business out of jobs, including your health insurance companies. Also, you got to think, where is the money going to come from to pay for the health care (nothing in life is free). Therefore, the government is going to find out some type of way to get the money from us. Then you can't forget about the jobs that already offer you health coverage. Therefore, in that case you wouldn't be getting the full benefit of that job.

  29. I support the health care proposal. Not everyone can afford health care in today's economy. Some people work two jobs and still can't afford the premiums for health care. Also, a majority of Americans have lost their jobs so they can't have health care. This would give health care to people with disabilities too. People with disabilities often can't get jobs thus can't afford health care; especially if they live independantly.Even though it would cause taxes to be higher, I think it overall would be beneficial to everyone. From what I researched the health care plan would have good coverage. It would definitely be better than having no health care at all. It also stated that if someone likes their coverage they have the choice to keep it.

  30. I believe that the health care plan is a good plan to follow. The purpose of the health care plan is to make sure that health care is affordable, and accessible to all Americans.Health insurance has doubled in the last 8 years. That's why so many Americans are not insured. Some insurance plans only cover a minimum of what you may need so that leaves your family in debt.In an article I read, it said that over half of personal bankruptcies today are due to medical bills.I firmly believe that the health care plan should be passed, and I disagree with anyone who believe it shouldn't.There are so many problems we are facing today why should our health be one?.When you are hurt or need medication, why should you have to stress and have to worry about how you are going to pay for prescriptions and medical bills. That should be the least of your concerns.

  31. I Believe that the Obama Health Care Plan is very good idea. I think that the plan should be put into effect because; it covers all American citizens, no American will be turned away from any insurance plan due to illness or pre existing conditions and it also will ensure that all children receive health care coverage. However, the health care plan is not free health care as most people assume it is. If u already have insurance you will continue to pay premiums, but President Obama promises that these premiums will be lower however, taxes may increase. Despite the tax increases that may occur, I think that it should be acted upon because it will provide a way for the many Americans who do not have health insurance and those that get declined at hospitals because they don’t have the funds to pay.

  32. Honestly, I'm not for the health care plan. While yes, having health insurance while your uninsured seems like a good thing. It's a hindrance to those who pay for their plan while you're getting the free ride. I think there should be some sort of LOW priced health plan that is still health care, but not as pricey (yes, it'd end up being low quality, but at least you're paying for it instead of being a mooch). Sounds like it'll end up like Canadias plan, free health care but higher taxes. Me and my friends say "Yes, it's free health care, but by the time you get to use it, it'll probably be too late."

  33. I agree with the health care plan 100 percent. Today many people are getting laid off and many of them are suffering from disabilities. Medical bills cost alot of money these days and alot of people could barely afford it. Keeping are people healthy and not ill will help them be able to find jobs. They will be able to at least live a good life.

  35. Health care being the touchy subject that it is, not everybody is going to agree with one plan of action. Right now most people in this country pay so much for health care and the rest just don't have any at all. The proposed bill will have a public plan payed for with money tax payers are already paying. Some say this plan is bad because we would have to wait longer to get appointments but I think that if me waiting a little bit to see the doctor means everyone can be treated is well worth it.

  36. I feel like the health care proposal is a good idea. My reason is that everyone cannot afford health careand by the government giving it free this would help a lot of under priveledged people. I do know that this may effect my pay check but im already paying taxes so adding on another wont hurt. especially if Its for the good of other people.

  37. I find that the questionnaire He has given to injured Vets to "make the decision easier on whether to have life saving surgery or not based on life quality", tells me all I need to know about his attitude towards health care. Even Chaney Said it was heartless and ordered it not used. Obama reinstated it to talk wounded vets out of surgery and expensive prosthetics. A lot of people don't know it yet but soon we will all be paying an arm and a leg for health care.

A major fact that not a lot of people know is the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet. Also the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.

  38. The health care plan is good and bad. It's good because people get the health care they need; however, the tax payers have to pay for the health care plan because it will increase taxes. I definitely don't need more money coming out of my paycheck to help some stranger.
